Description:
Tai Chi is a powerful mind-body practice. You will learn Standing Meditation, Silk-Reeling Qigong, and the first part of the traditional Tai Chi movement sequence. You will also learn how to properly align your body for balance, improved posture, and efficient power, and how to find stillness within movement.
The emphasis in class is on correct postural alignment, which helps you relax and open your joints while strengthening your muscles and achieving optimal energy circulation. The teacher bridges the gap between traditional Tai Chi teachings—carefully preserved and highly valued—and the need for clear, objective, and straightforward explanations.
The movement sequence is called Laojia Yilu. We practice 15 to 18 postures, which is appropriate for beginners. After the initial Standing Meditation and Qigong exercises, the group is guided through the movements, which are taught gradually and progressively.
