Future Community Leaders Program
Building Youth Leaders for the Future
The Future Community Leaders Program is a youth leadership and volunteer initiative through the Canterbury Community Association designed for youth ages 13 to 16. This program gives young people the opportunity to gain meaningful hands-on experience in community settings while building important life and leadership skills.
Participants will take part in structured volunteer placements, work alongside community staff, and develop confidence through real-world responsibilities. The program is designed to help youth grow as leaders, become more engaged in their community, and prepare for future opportunities in school, volunteering, and the workplace.
About the Program
The Future Community Leaders Program is more than just volunteer hours. It is an opportunity for youth to learn what it means to be dependable, supportive, and involved in their community. Participants will be introduced to different community environments where they will assist with programs, support activities, and learn how organizations work behind the scenes.
Throughout the program, youth are mentored and supervised by staff who help guide their learning and encourage personal growth. This experience allows participants to step outside of their comfort zones, take initiative, and strengthen the skills they need to become future leaders.
