The CCA’s adult group fitness program (16+ years) includes a variety of well-balanced classes that will work on toning, muscle-strength, core-strength, cardio health, balance and flexibility. Our team of instructors love what they do and will help you achieve your fitness goals!

  • Classes will take place indoors at the Canterbury Community Center
  • You will be required to go through the COVID screen when accessing the class room.
  • No drop-ins. Participants must register for each individual class for the full session.

Level Definitions:

FIT & MIX:  These courses are for adults seeking the types of workouts in our old Adult Group Fitness program:  Interval, Cardio, Strength, Step, etc.  Options will be given so you can adjust the level of intensity of your workout.

CARDIO ACTIVE: If you find the FIT Level courses too strenuous or the GOLD Level courses not as challenging as you like, this class is for you.

GOLD: These are courses from our 50+ Group Fitness Program.

ALL LEVELS: If no level is indicated, the class is good for all levels.

FIT & MIX Level Classes

CARDIO FIT:  Classes will consist of 75% aerobic conditioning and 25% muscle toning, core conditioning, and balance training. Exercise options will be given to those who wish to work at a higher (or lower) intensity.

HIIT: High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) involves bursts of high energy activity, followed by a period of rest or low intensity activity.  The class will include cardio warm up; the HIIT portion can include exercises such as high knees, burpees, mountain climber and jumping jacks.

INTERVAL MIX:  Each week will be different. Classes could include circuits, interval training, Tabata, emphasizing on cardio and strength.

STRENGTH FIT: A dynamic total body muscle conditioning class using your body weight and hand weights.

TABATA: A very effective workout combining cardio and muscle conditioning. The format consists of 8 rounds of one exercise in a 20-second on and 10-second off interval.

TRI FIT: Dynamic, fast-paced class that includes cardio, strength and flexibility training.  This class includes a step portion.

ALL LEVEL Level Classes

FLEXIBILITY & MOBILITY: Want to become  a better “mover”?  These classes combine movement and poses to lengthen your muscles, and improve your range of motion.

ZUMBA: This is a cardiovascular workout, combining fun dance movements with fantastic Latin music. You will have so much fun you’ll forget you’re working out.

ACTIVE Level Classes

CARDIO ACTIVE:  If you find the Fit Level courses too strenuous or the Gold Level courses not as challenging as you like, this class is for you.  It gives you a 20-25-minute cardio workout at a slower tempo, followed by toning and stretch segments.  Options will be given so you can adjust the level of intensity of your workout.

GOLD Level Classes

CARDIO GOLD: These classes will be taught in a multi-level fashion. Exercise options will be given to those who wish to work at a higher (or lower) intensity. Classes will consist of approximately 20-25 minutes of aerobic conditioning followed by muscle toning, core conditioning, and balance training.

CARDIO DANCE / ZUMBA GOLD: Do you like Latin dancing fitness classes?  This class is perfect for active older adults who are looking for a modified class that recreates the original moves you love in those other Latin dance fitness classes.  Lower intensity, but still high energy and big fun!  Class focuses on all elements of fitness: cardiovascular, muscular conditioning, flexibility, and balance.

STRENGTH & BALANCE GOLD: Strength and balance classes, or fall prevention classes, are designed to get you feeling more steady on your feet. The classes focus on exercises to improve your balance and confidence.
